I'm not even going to try to out do Jessica's winter poem that so many of you gave us positive feedback on (Thanks, Jess!). She
did a great job and reminded us all not to take ourselves too seriously. Even in the midst of a crisis, you can find a shining star.
And for me, I'm looking for that shining star in the form of crocuses, budding trees, and leaving work in the daylight. This
past winter was a rough one. Back to back storms challenged all of us, the economy is still gloomy, but the season of renewal is
upon us.
We, at Jack Berleth & Sons, are all trying to face this New Year with a positive outlook for brighter futures for everyone. Some
days, it is harder than others, but we keep reminding ourselves, if we all give just a little bit, eventually, the current financial
crisis will end, and hopefully, we will all come out okay on the other side of this.
One distraction I found helpful when I'm having a really bad day, is to try and do something unselfish for someone else. There
is always someone worse off than I am, and if I can ease that person's burden just a little bit, I feel better about myself, and find
myself wanting to do more. Maybe there is an elderly neighbor that hasn't been able to get their groceries, or maybe just needs
some company. Do you have some time on your hands? There are plenty of local charitable organizations that could be
looking for volunteers. And as good as helping others might make you feel, you may have no idea what a blessing you would
be to someone in need.
